Do You Love Your Job?

How many other people can say they love their job? I can truely say it with a smile on my face. I have been working with the same company for close to 11 years now and still love coming in to work (well really love working with my clients and the staff, the office is still a time waster for me). When I was hired it was my 6th career change and I was really struggling. I was unhappy and didn't know what to do with my life (I was looking at everything from going into the ministry to being a truck driver). I really feel like I found my niche, not only my job and the company I work with, but also the great industry I work in (technology). There is never time to get bored, which is what I need, again A.D.D. runs rapid in my veins.
Life is way to short to do something you don't love. I tell people I don't have a job, I have an obsession (which may not be the most healthy, but it does help to get out of bed in the morning).

Time

Isn't it interesting that what ever you have to get done takes up the amount of free time that you have to complete it? What takes 30 minutes one day might take 2 hours the next, because that is the amount of free time that you have. I have always thought it is better to give a job to a busy person, they find time to get everything done. I am not sure why that is, but some people just do a better job of time management. Now I am not saying that this is always the case. Sometimes there is just too much to get done, but if we really analyze what is taking our time, we seem to always have time for the top priority items and the lower priority items just take our time up.

Well I am trying to make time for therapy, I mean to write my thoughts in this blog, but it seems there are only so many things that I can get done in a day. I get caught up trying to do everything and get it crossed off my list rather than get what I can done and relax a little. I can say that is something my kids and wife do for me - even thought it is difficult sometimes to do. When I get home I immediately put away my phone and laptop and get down and play with my kids. Not only is it fun, but it helps clear my head from what has happened that day. It helps me to focus on the actual important things in my life, my family. It seems like we work hard for our family, but we get mixed up and almost make our family get in our way. I know that I have lost a family once through divorce and want to make sure I keep my eyes on the important things. Like they always say, on your death bed you will not say, if only I had gone to the office a little more.

Why does it seem that we get caught up on the low priority items? It never fails - I prioritize my time, but when it comes to execution (a good friend of mine, and my boss, Arlin Sorensen always says 'Vision without execution is hallucination') the small fires start and I get distracted (look blinky lights - I am a sales person, don't we all have A.D.D.?).
