Christmas Time!!!

Is the most wonderful time of the year.  Everyone's mood is good and in a giving mood.  There is great music on the radio (actually starts the day after Thanksgiving) also.  One of my favorite things about this time of year though is all the new technology rolled out.  I feel like a kid is a candy store. 
I can't wait to see what Santa brings me :)

Home

You don't realize how great your life is until you are gone for a while.
I am so glad I am home for the next month.
I really miss my family and love them - even when my youngest is throwing up on me :)

Vacation

On vacation today - it is my wife and daughter's birthdays.  Time to spend a little time with the two most important women in my life :)!

Time

Even more important than money right now it time.  Do you every notice you never seem to have enough of both?  Need to take a break now and smell the roses (and play with the family).

Great Week!

Wow another busy one - but it was awesome.  I had some great times talking to friends that I haven't talked to in a  while (Steve and Mike) who keep me grounded.  Do you have people like that.  Good friends - that throw the BS flag when needed?  They are not just a good idea but necessary if you are going to be successful.  I am lucky enough to even have a wife like that throws it on me (although I think she throws it a bit often, but sure I deserve it most of the time)!

Long Week

Anyone else feel like this has been a long week?  I am not sure if it is just that things are getting busy, my nights are very busy, or my weekends are swamped.  Things are hitting me wrong and think I need some down time.  I enjoy being busy (as usally) but need to recharge my batteries.  Everything is hitting me wrong (emotions are a little raw) even with my family.  Trying to come up with ideas to get my battery recharged.  Having problems this time around (I know it is a cyclical thing and I need to deal with it on a quarterly basis).

Sales Summit

Wow I had a great time this week at the HTG Sales Summit.  There was great information shared and I learned a lot.  Part of the learning was that I might be a good sales person, I have a lot of learn on the management side of the coin.  I feel like I can build a great relationship with people that I help support, I need to really work on being a resource for them.  It is exciting to see the path and know that I have resources (OK people that can help me) get to the path and make it without falling too many times.  Here is to a great future! #HTGSalesSummit

New Technology

OK so been watching all the news on the IPhone 5.  I love it, I want it, but I'm not sure why.  Is it that it is trendy (oh yes it is), is it because it is the best out there (really been thinking about it), or is it just because it is new technology (and I love new stuff).  I have been really thinking about this lately.  I love technology but not sure if it because of the new ways it will help me, or is it because it is the newest stuff.

Writing this while eating breakfast on a rooftop restaurant in San Diego.  Been a couple of busy but great days learning about LightSpeed Systems and the future they see.  Always great to hear what people are seeing out there and what they think is going to happen.  I get so excited hearing and seeing the future technology and figuring out ways that it will help my clients (oh and me also).  Although it has been a great trip - ready to get home to see the family, as I always am after traveling.

Vacation time?

It's that time of year - the time I need a vacation.  Schools are in full swing and I can relax a little.  I have a great team working with me - both engineering and admin, so I can tryst things are going to be done correctly.  I think I might Christina to agree to one - now just to think where.  Oh well part of the fun is planning!

School

Today is my little girl's first day of true school - full days of Kindergarten.  Makes me think back to what it was like when I was her age (ok if you need to know 38 years ago).  Man there is a lot of water under the bridge.  Lots good, some bad but wouldn't change it for anything.  I don't think I could have ever imagined doing what I do today (and still loving it) back then, but guess the world doesn't need another pilot (what I wanted to do back then).  It's interesting to reminince sometimes.

Finally

It's raining! I can't tell you the last time we had some rain. It has been a while and we need it. Bad thing is - supposed to golf this afternoon. Oh well we can always reschedule.

Time with Friends

I am writing this getting ready to spend a few days with friends and family. Sometimes it is difficult to find the time for these things - but at the end of the day isn't this what we work so hard for day in and day out? Taking time to have fun isn't a bad thing and needs to be a priority every once in a while.

Good Time!

Got to spend some time yesterday with a great friend and mentor of mine. Just so happened it was on a golf course It is an AWESOME place to brainstorm. No distractions (OK maybe my bad golf game, but other than that...) and able to share a few beverages and enjoy the scenery. When was the last time you took some time to just unplug and think. It can be a great use of time if done properly.

It is amazing to me that most people don''t understand how important image can be. Whether it is correct or not can be irrelevant. You can say never judge a book by it's cover - but we seem to all do it. And images change - whether that means you are maturing (or becoming more immature), your life change (had a child, married or divorced), or you get a new job. My recommendation is to check what your image says about you on a consistent basis (I try every 3 months) and make sure it is really you. Also don't just trust yourself, but ask others that you trust, those that will throw the bull flag. Give it a try, but be prepared...

Single Parent

So Christina has been traveling this week (getting back at me for all of my travel time) and it has been a very interesting week.  It has been fun but hectic.  Picking the kids up and getting them to swim lessons by 5:30 creates some issues, but the biggest issues come after that.  Getting them home, showered off and feed before we have an emotional break down is nearly impossible!  I do respect single parents - I am not cut out to be one...

Summer is Here

Well kind of. I told my 5 year old daughter, Taryn, that summer was here. She said, well not really. The calendar says it is still Spring. When did they get so smart so fast?

Well vacation is almost over. Had a great time but also miss working - it is pretty cool to like what you do so much that you miss it. I had a great time at the zoo, bowling, at the playground with my kids but I am ready to get back at it.

Vacation Time!

Wow what another busy week! Things are moving along well, but getting a little worn out. Next week I am taking a week of vacation - and really looking forward to it. Heading to the Omaha Zoo (my personal favorite) and a water park for a few days. Then just chillaxing the rest of the week with my kids. Really looking forward to it!

Friday

While it has been a great week.  My birthday was Tuesday (yes I am 43 now) and celebrated with a great dinner (steak on the grill, fresh aspargus and twice baked potatoes) and topped it off with a great ice cream birthday cake.  Then finally got to play some golf on Wednesday.  I know pretty soon I won't have the time so trying to enjoy a little down time before schools start popping. :)

Slow Down

It is that time again where I need to start slowing down a little and enjoying the flowers.  The flowers of course is my wonderful family.  To often I can't shut down after the day and then am not able to have fun with my kids and wife.  Need to learn how to do that again...

Busy Season

WOW things are moving fast (and I love it). Between business and home there is little time to get a breath. I like moving fast, but it does take a toll on me and more importantly my family. Going this weekend to an indoor water park in Okaboji. Should be a lot of fun for the kids.

Wow

This has been a rough week.  Between travelling, late nights, and my father being in the hospital I could really use a weekend. 

VTN week

Just heading home from Super Regional. Great information but even more great relationship building time with old and new friends. Isn't life really about the people? I do love what I do!

Retreat

No I don't mean run the other way.  What I do mean is it is time for the annual HTS company retreat in Kansas City.  While it is a great time learning new technology even more important is seeing all the other employees (and yes they are my friends) of the other HTS locations.  It is always a great learning event, but my favorite is to see everyone and find out what is going on in their lives (guess this is why I love sales so much).

Life

A good friend of mine lost his son to cancer at a very young age yesterday.  There are few things that really make me emotionaly any more, but this one hit me hard.  I never met the young man, but followed he and his family closely on Facebook and watch as someone many years younger taught me how to live life.  I never saw a complaint or a why me, but I saw a life lived to the best that could be done.  How many of us are living their lives and how many are just showing up?  It is time to stop just showing up.

Toys

Got some new toys for Christmas and loving them! The neew IPad2 anf my Brookstone mobile keyboard make traveling easier. i have to amit I wasn't sure about upgrading to the IPad2 from my 1, but it is awesome! Technology is so cool - sorry I am a geek :)

It's raining again and I love it

You know the saying when it rains it pours, well that's exactly what is happening now, and I love it. Nothing makes a person (in my mind) feel better than being busy and productive. Hopefully this is what 2012 is going to be :)
